I have been using Claude for about a year now and I find it useful. I use it to research ideas, brainstorm ideas and I’ve used it help me create financial investment models. I have also used it help summarize ideas. I see AI as the equivalent of the Gutenberg press in the 15th Century. There were those who feared books changing the world. Think about that. So while we have to have regulations, we also should learn the tech and understand it.
Just found your Substack and devoured three posts in a row. Your voice is sharp, funny, and deeply human - like being handed a flashlight and told, “Let’s go in, but don’t expect it to be pretty.”
I’m writing from a very different world - rural France, ducks, bureaucracy, and one long identity pivot - but the mission to tell stories that matter? Same page. Subscribed and grateful.
Thank you for permission to share that perspective since so many of the new neo-Luddites are not open to listening to anyone who doesn’t agree with their stodgy stance!
I’d spent weeks trying to fix a problem with the mobile view of my website. I gave ChatGPT the address and asked it to spot the problem (I didn’t say what the problem was) and tell me how to fix it. Sure enough it spotted the problem and gave me simple instructions on fixing it, which worked. That was the point I went from being a skeptic to a convert!
Oh you just reminded me -- I had somehow forgotten that I had my developer create a tool (using Claude) that can generate an authority-building book. I keep forgetting to tell people about it but it's so cool -https://www.legacylaunchpadpub.com/unique-authority-book-generator
AI has done plenty for me. I immediately embraced the rewards of using it instead of worrying about the risks involved. Context on me, I am a 41-year-old survivor of Y2K as well.
Titles. I struggle with being too wordy. AI helps me be succinct.
Mental health. Did you know AI can give you suggestions on how to calm down? Did you know it can teach you to ease in to situations that are out of your comfort zone? Did you know AI can help you start a conversation with people?
Supporting characters in fiction. Have a good idea for your main character and plot? That's all good. But what about the other characters you've given less thought to?
I can share more and there will be a post I make that goes further in to that category. All I can say is that I agree with you.
Love it! Exactly this... "Saved me from having to spend the time I would spend being creative on things I don’t like doing"
The best assistant I've ever had...
Same

Such a good point. And I have no doubt calculators caused the same stir when they came around...
Same!

What a generous, lovely comment—subscribed back. What's not to love about France, ducks, bureaucracy and pivots?

Hmmm Database Anaylst and software developer with over 20 years experience speaking (wonder if that makes me a 'neo-luddite').
Question. Where does the database come from? And was permission granted?
I just started using AI and I am having so much fun with it. And I agree with you wholeheartedly.

i need to know claude
you may like Claude even more than you like ME
Of course you got attention. Lazy, cheap, dishonest, parasitic hacks are always more welcome than being told to put in honest effort.
But guess what folks. Customers can tell the difference. Work away and high 5 (oh its AI slop sorry high 6) each other.
Because there's no coins crossing your palm for your stolen spew.
Good posts deserve attention :)
The White Lotus … so good! Sucked me right in! Love the scenery!

I love this list! I want to be more proactive about using AI for productivity but it’s not a top of mind tool for me yet. Thanks for the ideas 💡
